Named for the ruined city of Ani and inspired by the folk song two peoples both claim as their own, Nishane's most celebrated extrait is the modern benchmark for vanilla done seriously. Blue ginger and pink pepper strike bright over bergamot; blackcurrant, Turkish rose, and cardamom warm the heart; and the base — vanilla, benzoin, ambergris, sandalwood, patchouli — settles into a long, golden drydown that made Ani's reputation.
