YSL's Babycat, from the exclusive Le Vestiaire des Parfums and composed by Dominique Ropion in 2022, takes raw bourbon vanilla and refuses to let it turn to dessert. Pink and black pepper spark the opening; saffron and olibanum smoulder at the heart; a base of vanilla, cedar, and warm suede reads animalic and intimate — the kind of skin-scent that pulls people close. A Basenotes best-of-house finalist, and one of the more talked-about vanillas of the decade.
